Does your website need a refresh?

If it has been a few years since your website was built, it may be time to consider a refresh. Chances are, your website was not designed to be responsive (easy to view and navigate on mobile phones or tablets). Why is a responsive website important? Good question! An Ipsos survey tailored to Canadian consumers found that 77% of mobile phone users have researched a product or service on their device and 27% of those people surveyed made a purchase on their phone. When surveyed about the reasons why they did not purchase a product or service on their mobile device, 29% mentioned that they could not see detailed information about a product or service and 26% said that it was hard to compare prices and options. Both of these purchase obstacles would be greatly reduced or eliminated completely by having a responsive website. One easy way to see if your website has been designed in a responsive manner is to simply access your site on a similar device that your customers use such as an iPhone, Android phone or iPad and evaluate the experience. If the text remains small and difficult to read, if old navigation menus are cumbersome to use with touchscreen devices or if you have to “pinch, zoom, scroll” frequently, the site is not responsive and it may be time for a refresh. So why Twitter you ask? Well following the goals I set for this site and declared in a previous post, I’m separating any content that is not directly related to Trifold Consulting from the site itself. Minimalist, relevant, and smart

As you’ve probably noticed, some tech sites attempt to fit as much information as possible into their sites. I can understand this point of view as the creator feels like the more they provide, the higher the chance that the reader will find it interesting. I think you would agree that in most cases, the result is the exact opposite. Busy, cluttered web sites are hard to read and hard on the brain – it’s is difficult to filter out the information you don’t want and find the information you do. You will notice that this site is very simple in design and content in an attempt to address the above points. This doesn’t mean that it is overly simplistic though. In fact, the site has many intelligent features: Responsive design – Can be viewed on almost any device (Desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone) Accessible – Site design elements such as colour, contrast, font selection, font size, descriptive image tags and other site content should make it easy to navigate for those with visual or other physical impairments. Comments – Most pages/posts on the site have a comments box below where you can have your say. Contact Form – Would you like to contact me directly? A new home and new design

I’m pleased to announce that I finally own the trifoldconsulting.com domain name I’ve been waiting for since founding the company! The previous owner decided not to renew the domain so once it expired, I jumped on the opportunity. The purchase of this new domain also inspired me to consider a refresh of the Trifold web site. The old design was starting to feel a little outdated but more importantly, the site was not mobile-friendly. I hope you enjoy the new site design, streamlined navigation and most importantly, a site that works well on any mobile device. These are just some of the small changes to improve service to you, my valuable clients. Please use the comments section below if something is amiss with the mobile layout of this site or if you have any comments/suggestions you feel could improve upon the current site...
